10 hot gadgets launched in India recently

The past few months have seen launch of several gadgets in the Indian market, offering buyers a plethora of choices across various product categories and price points. The new gadget launches include from smartphones to tablets to smartwatches to fitness trackers.

Here’s a look at 10 hot gadgets launched in India recently.

Samsung Galaxy S5
Samsung has launched Galaxy S5 in India, bringing its top new smartphone to the country at Rs 51,500. The device has a water- and dust-resistant body, heart rate monitor, fingerprint sensor and top-notch security features.

This smartphone has a 5.1-inch Full HD display, eight-core processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB storage, 128GB microSD card support and 2,800mAh battery. It is powered by Android 4.4 (KitKat), with a revamped, flatter version of Samsung’s TouchWiz UI on top. Galaxy S5 also has a 16 MP rear camera that can record 4K (movie hall quality) videos.

Moto X
Nearly six months after its US launch, Moto X has made its way to the Indian market. The variants with plastic back panel costs Rs 23,999, while the models with wooden back come at Rs 25,999. Unique features of this Motorola smartphone include always-listening touchless control, low-power Active Display notifications and ClearPixel camera.

Moto X has a 4.7-inch 720p display, 1.7GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, 10MP rear camera with LED flash, 2,200mAh battery and NFC. The device comes preloaded with stock version of Android 4.4 (KitKat) operating system, with a few Motorola apps.

Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2
Samsung recently launched India’s most expensive Android tablet, named Galaxy Note Pro 12.2. The tablet has a huge 12.2-inch display, carries a price tag of Rs 65,575 and is positioned as a device meant to blur the lines between tablets and laptops. This gadget can open up to four apps on the screen at once, along with a number of ‘floating apps’ that can be moved around or minimized at one touch.

Other key specifications of Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 are 2.3GHz quad-core Snadragon 800 processor, 3GB RAM, 2560x1600p screen resolution, 32GB internal storage, 64GB microSD card support, 8MP rear camera and 9,500mAh battery. The device is powered by Android 4.4 (KitKat) operating system with Magazine UX and supports the S Pen stylus.

LG L90, L70 dual
South Korean manufacturer LG has launched two Android 4.4 (KitKat)-powered dual-sim smartphones in India, named L70 and L90 Dual. While the former is priced at Rs 15,000, the latter can be purchased at Rs 19,000.

LG L90 Dual has a 4.7-inch display with 960x540p resolution, 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon 400 processor, 1GB RAM, 8GB internal storage and 32GB microSD support. The smartphone sports an 8MP camera with LED flash on the back, while a 1.3MP camera is used in front.

On the other hand, LG L70 Dual has a 4.5-inch screen (800x480p resolution), 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon 200 processor, 1GB RAM, 5MP camera with LED flash, 4GB internal storage and 32GB microSD card support.

HTC Desire 310
Priced at Rs 11,700, HTC Desire 310 is a dual-sim smartphone featuring a 4.5-inch TFT screen with 480x854p resolution. It is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core Mediatek processor with 512MB RAM and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) operating system with Sense 5.1 UI on top.

Desire 310 comes with 4GB storage expandable up to 32GB via microSD card and 2,000mAh battery. It sports a 5MP rear camera and a VGA front-facing camera. In terms of connectivity, the phone offers support for Wi-Fi, 2G, 3G, Bluetooth 4.0 and A-GPS.

Micromax Canvas Knight
Canvas Knight is Micromax’s first smartphone with an octa-core processor, priced at Rs 19,999. This dual-sim phone sports a 5-inch Full HD display made by Sharp and packs a 2GHz MediaTek octa-core processor under the hood, backed by 2GB RAM.

Micromax’s Canvas Knight also has a 16MP rear camera with OmniVision's CameraChip sensor and the M8 Largan Lens. The phone has an 8MP front-facing camera. The device features 32GB internal storage and runs on Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean); the phone doesn't feature a microSD card slot. Canvas Knight A350 also comes with a Yamaha Amplifier for enhanced audio output and 2,350mAh battery.

Xolo Q1010i, Q2500
Xolo has launched two smartphones under Rs 15,000 recently, named Q1010i and Q2500. While the former is aimed at photography enthusiasts, the latter targets those who like big screens. Both devices come with Android 4.2, but will be upgraded to Android 4.4.

The new Xolo Q1010i sports an 8MP camera with Sony Exmor R sensor featuring f2.0 aperture. This low aperture helps more light enter the camera, thus delivering better lowlight photos. Other key specifications of the smartphone include 5-inch 720p display, 1.3GHz quad-core processor, 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage.

Xolo Q2500 has a 6-inch 720p screen, 1.3GHz quad-core Mediatek processor with 1GB RAM and 4GB internal storage as well as 32GB microSD support for storage expansion. On the back of this handset is an 8MP camera with LED flash, whereas a 2MP camera is in front.

Spice Smart Flo Poise, Stellar Glide
Spice has added two budget smartphones to its portfolio recently, named Smart Flo Poise and Stellar Glide, priced at Rs 5,499 and 5,199 respectively. Both smartphones have 4GB internal storage, 32GB microSD support, 1.3GHz dual-core processor, 512MB RAM and Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean).

Smart Flo Poise has a 4.5-inch screen, 3.2MP rear camera with LED flash, 1.3MP front camera, 2G and Wi-Fi. According to Spice, its IML (In-Mould Labelling) technology imparts greater wear resistance to the device, hence making it sturdier.

The new Stellar Glide smartphone has a 4-inch display, 2MP rear camera with LED flash, 1.3MP front camera, 1,350mAh battery, Wi-Fi and 2G. Unlike its more expensive sibling, this smartphone can also access the internet over 3G networks.

Samsung Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo, Gear Fit
Samsung launched its new range of wearable gadgets in India, bringing the Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo smartwatches as well as the Gear Fit fitness tracker to the market. While the Gear 2 smartwatch is priced at Rs 21,900, the other two gadgets cost Rs 15,900 each.

Samsung’s new smartwatches sport 1.63-inch Super AMOLED screens with resolution of 320x320p, whereas the fitness band has a 1.84-inch Super AMOLED display with 432x128p resolution. All three come with interchangeable straps.

Both new Samsung smartwatches run on Tizen operating system and have integrated heart rate sensor, pedometer, gyroscope and accelerometer to track the number of steps users’ take, along with their sleeping patterns and stress levels. These also have built-in music players, infrared sensor to control the TV. The Gear 2 is resistant to dust as well as water and has 2MP camera.

The Gear Fit also has a pedometer, heart rate monitor and sleep monitor to track users’ health and fitness levels. The device’s battery is said to last 3-4 days.

GOQii
After making a splash in the international market, Indian entrepreneur Vishal Gondal has brought wearable gadget GOQii to India. This fitness band comes with a subscription to a personal trainer’s services, provided by the startup itself.

The company’s Mumbai-based personal coaches analyze the data sent by the fitness tracker to create customized recommendations. These recommendations are sent via SMS everyday, while calls are made to users once a month.

Though the GOQii fitness band itself is free, the six- and 12-month fitness training plans cost Rs 5,999 and Rs 9,999, respectively.
